There are lots of different types of wild Bird food to choose from. Each product will come with a full description of what the food contains and which birds it is meant to attract.


Wild Bird food
Feeding wild birds is a great way to introduce your children to nature. Providing the birds with a nutritious wild Bird food is a good way of attracting them into your garden. There are lots of specially formulated wild bird foods on the market, targeted to attract different species of birds, so if you want to attract specific wild birds you will need the correct bird seed. You can feed the birds in your garden sunflower seeds, peanuts, food bars, bird cakes and bird seed mixtures. Check the information on each product to see which kind of bird they will attract.

Keep a good standard of hygiene when you are feeding the birds. Keep their tables and feeders clean and make sure children wash their hands when they’ve been in contact with wildlife. There are some excellent cleaning products on the market especially for cleaning bird tables and feeders. Most household cleaning products re not suitable for cleaning bird tables.


Bird feeder
Nut feeders allow birds to feed on the nuts safely.  The wire is distance perfectly to allow the birds to eat the nuts without taking large chunks. Some feeders are squirrel proof. They prevent squirrels and larger birds from stealing the food. A common feeder is the stainless steel wild bird seed feeder. It’s easy to clean and small birds can perch and feed. It gives you some great photo opportunities.

Bird feeders can be hung on garages, sheds, walls or you can hang the smaller feeders from a bird table. If you want to make a home made bird feeder, cut a coconut in half and fill it with a bird cake or fat. There are lots of recipes for making your own bird food from table leftovers. Check with your local bird association, which food is appropriate for your local wild birds. This will vary from season to season, so make sure you adjust the ingredients accordingly.
